The tubers arrived in good condition. I had beautiful blooms from late July till frost in October.

I received my tubers in April and unfortunately only two out of three were viable. The third had broken necks and was dried out. It’s mid June now and I have pinched the back by now and they are on track to produce blooms by August hopefully.

Not happy.

All 4 of my tubers showed up with what looks like a large central crushed stem and dehydrated and broken 'tubers' that more closely resemble a thick petrified root that didn't quite become a tubers capable of overwintering. Since the 4 came in 2 separate packages and the quality was consistently poor among both I'm curious if this variety just doesn't produce much for tubers. The rest of my order with other varieties came in pretty darn good shape. I hope to get a replacement for these 4 tubers as I do indeed want to grow this variety if I can get my hands on some viable tuber stock.

Another dud from Longfield this year

As mentioned by another reviewer for dahlia Linda's Baby, two of the three tuber clumps I received this year did not look promising (mostly a spent "mother tuber" with no additional attached tubers (though many broken off in the bag). I potted these up along with the one decent looking clump, though they never developed eyes. The plant that grew from the third clump was stunted and produced a total of two flowers throughout the entire growing season. Very disappointing.

We are sorry you are unhappy with the dahlias that you purchased from us. We want to apologize again, and give you some context for what you experienced.
Our dahlias are grown in the Netherlands and are mechanically harvested, washed, sorted and packed. Dahlia clumps can be damaged at any point in this process, and shipping adds yet another opportunity for tubers to break off. We wish it were different, but some amount of breakage is inevitable. The good news is that when you plant an entire clump, you will almost always get one or more sprouts, even if some of the tubers have broken off. This is because the growth points are at the base of last year's stem, not on the tubers.
It's also important to know that some varieties of dahlias always produce fewer or smaller tubers than others. Weather conditions during the growing and harvest seasons also impact tuber size and quality. Lastly, dahlias can be fickle and simply refuse to grow. This is why we don't hesitate to offer replacements or a full refund. A customer service representative will be reaching out to you shortly.
