Second year since planting and this year’s blooms were very large and exactly how pictured. Beautiful in my fairy garden.

We are sorry to hear that your gladiolus did not bloom. Since it sounds like the plants grew well, the problem may have been thrips. Glads are susceptible to being damaged by these sucking insects, which are so tiny that they are very difficult to see. In the future, you can spray the plants with an insecticidal soap (or another type of pesticide) as they are starting to form buds. Do not spray the flowers once they open. If you plan to store the corms indoors for the winter, soak them for 3 minutes in a solution of 4Tbsp bleach mixed with 1 gallon of water.
