Cosmos Atrosanguineus

The plant has beautiful, deep, rich, velvety, burgundy maroon blooms on long stems above attractive foliage; however, the flowers do not have a sweet cocoa-like fragrance or any scent at all. Of the 3 larger tubers and one extra mini tuber I received, one has grown into a vigorous plant that is already in bloom, the second is a smaller plant with buds, the third rooted but never developed growth points, and the 'bonus" tuber has remained dormant. Beautiful flowers that look great with companion plants in a larger planter, but lacking the sweet cocoa scent I was hoping for.

My chocolate cosmo tubers arrived with 1 tuber that was already rotted. 1 tuber was already waking up. I have both surviving tubers planted. We’ll see how it goes.

I ordered three roots. I started them in my greenhouse. All three of them grew well, but when I transplanted them into my garden, one of them died right away and the other two never flowered. I used organic slug repellent as the young plants are highly susceptible to slugs feasting on them. Very disappointed that they did not bloom.

Sorry. None of them lived past that first summer. I have enjoyed most everything I have ordered from you. These were a disappointment.
