It can be very difficult to detect in the spring because it often doesn't appear until later in the growing season. It can be spread from one plant to another by rainwater or irrigation. Until recently, we have seen very few instances of leafy gall on dahlias. Due to warmer growing temperatures in the past year, we believe we are seeing the disease. We are working with our partners in Holland to implement additional testing and controls.
