Karma Lagoon Dahlia ...

Karma Lagoon Dahlia was first to bloom, and already has flowers and buds all over it despite it being a very mild spring for us. I haven't had to deadhead yet, and the first bloom is nearly two weeks old! The color is an intense, saturated magenta you can see from the other side of the yard!

Bigger than expected blooms, although they bloomed pretty late for me in the Chicago area. Both tubers I planted came up. Manageable size plant, was able to handle two in a small community garden plot. Flowers are a very nice soft fuchsia color - in between pink and purple. The flowers had rather short stems which makes it harder to use as a cut flower but I am still figuring out how to prune dahlias correctly in order to encourage the longer stem!

Really not happy.

I received my order April 15 and planted all tubers in containers the same day. They are in a temp controlled room with grow lights. Everything except the Dahlia Decorative Karma lagoon and Dahlia Dinnerplate Otto’s Thrill have sprouted and are doing well. There is still no sign of growth on either of these tubers (2 of each variety)
