Dahlia Decorative Motto

They were incredible and large flowers that lasted a long time!

This was my earliest blooming dahlia by a mile and no doubt a dinnerplate. Its a giant! I pinched the initial growth at about 8 weeks and now have many huge Fat strong stems, flowers facing completely upright- these are cutting garden stars! I have 6 giant motto blooms off two eyes before anything else even started to color up. This is my favorite dahlia because it is the first to bloom big and plenty, strong and fully upright. They are yellow with coral red highlights when they open. As the flower matures, the reds fades and if allowed to fully open on the stem they become only yellow- but this dahlia is throwing up huge flowers in June like its September. Best thing about it is its upright habit- its flowers are strong on long stems facing directly up. Motto is not lazy or shy, perfect for cutting.

I have grown these for several years and they are a favorite. Color starts out more yellow with orange and becomes more orange with yellow as weather cools. Productive plant, long strong stems, last well in vase. Also a good tuber producer.
